Come say hi to us if you find yourself in any of the following happenings!<\/p>\n<p>This November is full of events we\u2019re looking forward to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><em>Open Data Conference<\/em><\/b><em>, Shanghai, China, 8 November<\/em><br \/>\nMichael Ca\u00f1ares will be presenting the \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/labs.webfoundation.org\/id\/proyek\/open-data-asia-2020-2\/\">Open Data Asia 2020<\/a>\u2019, which reveals what the state of open data should be in the Asia-Pacific region by 2020. He will share how the open data agenda could be jointly achieved by governments, businesses and civil society organisations in the next three years. Follow his presentation on Twitter at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mikorulez\">@mikorulez<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/opsiconference2017.sched.com\/\"><b><em>Innovation in Government: The New Normal<\/em><\/b><\/a><em>, Paris, France, 20-21 November<\/em><br \/>\nThe conference will showcase some of the OECD <a href=\"http:\/\/oe.cd\/opsi\">OPSI\u2019s<\/a> work focused on improving lives through innovation. Antya Widita will be there so follow him <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/AntyaWidita\">@AntyaWidita<\/a> for his takeaways!<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vietnaminternetforum.com\/\"><b><em>Vietnam Internet Forum<\/em><\/b><\/a><em>, Hanoi, Vietnam, 27-28 November<\/em><br \/>\nGlenn Maail will participate in this event, which aims to provide a space to discuss how the internet can contribute to the making of an \u201copen, sustainable and innovative society\u201d. This year\u2019s focus is on how access to open data, the internet and technology can advance sustainable development. This conference looks at open contracting data to identify \u201cwhat\u2019s working, what isn\u2019t and what to do about it\u201d, understand user needs, identify how to design sustainable initiatives, and share experiences and insights. They will bring together 25 youth representatives from 15 countries across Asia\u2014with whom we will do a mini-workshop with on <a href=\"http:\/\/labs.webfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/HtG_Banyuwangi_Fostering.pdf\">how to foster government and civil society collaboration<\/a> inspired by <a href=\"http:\/\/labs.webfoundation.org\/id\/proyek\/memperkuat-reformasi-birokrasi-daerah-melalui-open-data\/\">our project<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/labs.webfoundation.org\/id\/proyek\/memperkuat-reformasi-birokrasi-daerah-melalui-open-data\/\"> in Banyuwangi<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 10px;\"><b><em>What kind of web do we want?<\/em><\/b><em>, Jakarta, Indonesia, 13 December<\/em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>We are organising a screening of <a href=\"http:\/\/foreveryone.net\/\"><strong>net<\/strong><\/a><strong>, <\/strong>a film about our founder Sir Tim Berners-Lee\u2019s invention of the web and his vision for its future. Sir Tim gave the web to the world for free \u2013 but will we fight for the web we want? Following the screening, our President &amp; CEO, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/adrianlovett\">Adrian Lovett<\/a> will lead a discussion about the pressing challenges facing the web, covering issues including access, privacy, censorship, misinformation online and many others. The event features a ministerial roundtable, a sub-national roundtable, and 4 parallel sessions that discusses public service delivery, economic growth, trust in government, and environmental health. The Web Foundation, through the Open Data Lab Jakarta, is co-organising a panel on open government and restoring trust in government.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The past few weeks also saw us busy:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/istanbulinnovationdays2017.sched.com\/\"><b>Istanbul Innovation Days<\/b><\/a>\u00a0and the <\/em><b><em>World Habitat Day<\/em><br \/>\n<\/b>We attended the two events, with the latter focusing on a session that delved into the affordability of open cities.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 10px;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.odecanet.org\/how-we-kicked-off-dip\/\"><b>Data Innovation Project, &#8220;Measuring the Unmeasured&#8221;,<\/b><\/a>\u00a0Istanbul, Turkey, 16-17 October<\/em><br \/>\nParticipants from 13 countries across the globe were brought together for this event. In those two days, members of the team worked with other participants to identify ways to measure the SDGs Tier III indicators by devising research questions, mapping challenges and figuring out solutions and concrete ways forward.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.odecanet.org\/how-we-kicked-off-dip\/\"><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 10px;\"><em<a href=\"https:\/\/eiti.org\/event\/opening-up-ownership-conference\"><b>Opening Up Ownership Conference<\/b><\/a>, Jakarta, Indonesia, 23-24 October<\/em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Our Lab Manager, Antya Widita attended this event organised by EITI where he gained insights on how open data can be better leveraged to fight corruption\u2014watch out for his blog!<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 10px;\"><em><b>Policy &amp; Practice Dialogue, Appropriating Technology for Accountability: Lessons from \u2018Making All Voices Count\u2019,<\/b>\u00a0Sussex, UK, 25-26 October<\/em><br \/>\nThe event acted as a final dialogue for the MAVC programme, where participants &#8211; most of which were MAVC grantees and partners &#8211; shared their gained experiences about the roles technologies play in empowering citizens and providing them with means to foster more transparent, accountable and responsive governments.
