\nThis year at Re:publica, our Lab Director, Andreas Pawelke (@pa_wela<\/a>), will be heading the session \u201cThe Future of Data for Development<\/a>\u201d where he will present the \u201cData for Development: What\u2019s Next?<\/a>\u201d research. The report, done in collaboration with the Institute of Development Studies<\/a> (IDS) and commissioned by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit<\/a> (GIZ), looks at the current state of data for development, identifies emerging data trends, and provides recommendations on how to integrate data strategies and investments in development work. The session will cover real projects: \u201cpractitioners will discuss how they’re using data to advance development and explore how the trends might impact their work on the way forward<\/a>\u201d and is bound to be full of on-the-ground experiences and interesting data tidbits\u2014see you there!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
\n<\/b>Our Research Manager, Glenn Maail will be attending the Asia Pacific-US AI Workshop, a part of the Global AI Dialogue Series<\/a> convened by the Berkman Klein Center at Harvard University and organised together with the Digital Asia Hub in collaboration with the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University. The event seeks to provide a platform for policy, business, or technology actors to develop and share insights on AI from an ethics and governance perspective. Focusing on \u201cexploring cross-border impact metrics, aggregating and analysing AI data, and identifying best practices for bolstering trust in AI\u201d, it\u2019s bound to be an intense and insightful discussion, so make sure to follow @glennmaail<\/a> on Twitter for updates!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
\n<\/b>Organised by the Jakarta Lab together with Hivos<\/a>, the event was part of our research project that maps information intermediaries in Indonesia and the conditions under which they can become effective in open contracting advocacy and engagement. The workshop aimed to get an in-depth understanding of the infomediaries<\/i><\/a>, the open contracting ecosystem in Indonesia, and the challenges and opportunities for future collaborations in this sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
\n<\/b>Recently, we wrapped up a forum focused on tackling women\u2019s access, use and creation of internet technologies. We gathered government agencies, civil society organisations, media, and researchers to discuss the key issues affecting the digital literacy of women and young girls in Indonesia, outline recommendations to address these challenges and gaps, and map key actors and current initiatives in this space. We\u2019ll keep working on our findings and research, so make sure to regularly check our blog<\/a> for updates!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
