We have two new how-to guides based on our open data project in Banyuwangi
In June this year, we concluded the implementation of the “Strengthening Local Bureaucracy Reform through Open Data” project, which focused on how open data can be used to strengthen relationships between government and civil society in order to achieve governance reforms in the district of Banyuwangi, Indonesia. The initiative is a collaboration between the Jakarta Lab and the TRANSFORMASI project of Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
As part of the project wrap-up, we’re now in the process of documenting our experiences to share with the public. We’re starting with the publication of two how-to guides, “Fostering Government and Civil Society Collaboration through Open Data”, wherein we suggest specific steps that can be taken to promote collaboration between government and civil society organisations through the use of open data. This approach is particularly helpful in a context where there is a need to build trust and collaboration between government and CSOs and work together to achieve common goals. We are also sharing the “Accessing and Making Use of Open Health Data”, which shows how the capacity of user groups in accessing and using open health data can be improved to help strengthen their advocacy or development work.
If this interests you and you’d like to know more about the Jakarta Lab and our projects, you can find other how-to guides, lessons learned papers, and research findings in the resources section of the Lab’s website.
